400 Kids from Toronto’s Inner-City Communities Receive Free School Supplies

‘Hand of Love’ initiative gives free school supplies to secure future of children in low-income communities.

Over 400 children living in Toronto’s inner-city communities returned to this school year with the supplies they need to help them be successful in the classroom, thanks to Pastors Richard and Taba Pena of CE Toronto Bayview and generous sponsors and partners of the ‘Hand of Love’ initiative.

The special event, ‘Operation Backpack-4-Knowledge’, was designed to meet the needs of indigent families. The line-up began from the early hours of the morning as many children and families living in Toronto’s inner-city communities came with great expectation to receive pre-assembled backpacks for the school year.

Many refugee families from Syria and other war-torn countries attended with their children, who began attending school for the first time this September.

Indeed, “every child is your child,” as the man of God, Pastor Chris, says. Through this kind gesture, many children have been equipped for greater success in school and at life.

Excited teens show off their new backpacks for school.
