On Friday, February 14th, the Humanitarian Volunteer Network of Christ Embassy Zaria, North-West Zone 1, took a special hand-washing awareness campaign to Unique Susan Group of Schools in Zaria, Kaduna State. The campaign was geared towards enlightening the public, especially school children, on the healthy practice of hand-washing and its importance.
The gesture is one among the 14 Acts of Love embarked upon by the Humanitarian Volunteer Network (HVN) globally in this Month of Songs. A total of 200 students drawn from the nursery, primary, secondary and adult education level benefited from the unique gesture as they assembled to learn how to wash their hands in order to prevent contracting and spreading harmful germs and bacteria. The team also donated hand-washing equipment to the school at the event.
Speaking at the occasion, the head of HVN Zaria Chapter, Ibeleme Amos Uche, admonished the students on the importance of washing their hands regularly as part of personal hygiene. He emphasized that if they are not healthy, they cannot come to school to acquire education in order to become better citizens of the society. He also encouraged them to make judicious use of the hand-washing equipment provided.
The school management was elated and full of thanks to the man of God, Reverend (Dr.) Chris Oyakhilome, for championing this course in helping humanity. The Humanitarian Volunteer Network is poised to create a healthy and conducive environment for children to learn and live healthy lives.
